Tips for daring to climb Mt Kilimanjaro? I'm arriving on Arusha airport next weekend and I'm willing to make it to the top.(give a different answer) .
Brave you! Even if it's the highest in Africa, over 19,000 feet, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro is not so backbreaking - no need for ropes, crampons or technical skills. The only problem is acclimatization, you have to take a few days for getting used to the low level of oxygen, half of what we usually breathe. Take the 9 day trek through the Shira Plateau, it's a 25 miles round-trip. Though longer than the 4-day Marangu trail, it's less crowded and gives you time to get accustomed to the oxygen problem.
